Book cover for Pampa Pernambucano



Pampa Pernambucano is a book that celebrates a writer's fascination for an artist's paintings; poetry inspired by visual form. Written by author, scholar, and literary translator Beatriz Viegas-Faria, each poem opens a dialogue with one of Gil Vicente's poignant paintings and drawings.

Keeping this duality of media in mind, I wanted to create a cover that highlighted the choreography between words and images. So I chose one of the most dramatic paintings in the book and let Beatriz' verses find their place alongside it.
